Most who leave the teachings of the WT don't want others to follow their own particular doctrine instead, and normally would want simply the rescue of family / friends, and the avenging of a serious affront - the WT would attempt to use Paul's words to insinuate that those who leave want followers - this however was the case with the WT itself originally - people with strange doctrines that separated from Christianity, and wanted followers (in a big way).

July 15th WT out - Coming out Swinging at Apostates Hard
by LostGeneration inthis is one of the most aggressive watchtowers i think i have ever read.. four study articles on not "following the crowd" not following unrealities(page 13) not following false teachers, meaning apostates of course(p 15).
avoiding false teachers means "refusing to read their literature, watch tv programs that feature them, examine their web sites, or add comments to their blogs.
(para 7, pg 16).

I Believe Jehovah's Witnesses do the best they can
by zgborn ini really believe that jehovah's witnesses do the best they can considering the deity they worship.
for starters, they witnesses talk much more about the value of fearing god than the value of loving him.
as a result, they are always on the lookout for any little thing that might piss him off.

Choosing subjection to fear instead of brevity, isn't really synonymous with the general human view of 'doing the best you can' - it just isn't

Research confirms - ignorance elicits confidence and assuredness
by A Paduan indarwin & others new this - research supports it - and shows that revealing the ignorance to the ignorant doesn't cure it .

When you trust someone, you are placing your well-being in their hands, and that of those in your charge - to whatever extent it is that you are trusting them - if not you simply aren't engaged in the act of trusting them.
There are various aspects of trust. You may even doubt someone's words, but still find them so trusworthy (in spirit) that they would not put their own interests first, but care for your well-being as the primary concern - the spirit of trust, and not necessarily literal.
What can I say about Jwism? not much

Hardly anybody does this, but, INTELLECTUAL HONESTY requires it!
by Terry ini work in a used book store in the religion & philsophy section and daily have interesting interactions with customers.. the layout of the religion section is two separate divisions.
the fluffy side is chri-fi (christian fiction) and christian living books.
the meaty side has bibles, textbooks, theology, hermenutics, reference guides, etc.. i keep a sort of mental scorecard going as to who goes where.. i try and ask subtle questions about why each person is looking for a particular item.. i hardly ever run into anybody of a skeptical nature unless they are trying to prove somebody else wrong.. which reminds me of when i was a good little jw in a bookstore all those years ago.... i'd look up what a book might have to say about the name "jehovah.

If you want to figure what "abstaining from blood" means - just ask yourself then, 'what is bloodguilt'?
you are what you eat - eg. you can eat Jesus too (i.e. be like him)
So who is it then that hasn't been 'abstaining from blood' - me thinks it's the special hospital visiting crew

Who Do They Think They Are?
by snowbird inthis passage from revelation-its grand climax!
is what caused me to take a second look at the wt doctrine that the 144,000 are a heavenly class, and the remnant of said class is associated with wbts.. the 24 elders and the anointed group of 144,000 are described as being "round about the throne" of jehovah and "upon the [heavenly] mount zion.
" (revelation 4:4; 14:1) the great crowd is not a priestly class and does not attain to that exalted position.

The beauty of it is that it keeps them occupied and in the one place - imagine if they were let loose - i's bad enough that they get to talk door to door, but imagine if they were without religion and in the public realm - it'd be like the Taliban let loose out of Pakistan.
The wt society plays a role in keeping certain personality types contained to some extent, but unfortunately it impacts on their relatives and others who are exposed to the implications of their desires.

The Watchtowers exsistance "proves" the Bible is true
by drew sagan inpeople validate their own reilgious experiences in a variety of differant ways.
for example, many in the power of prayer and see all of their life events as tied directly to the will of god.
others believe that they have been witnessed or experienced miracles of healing and revelation.. jehovah's witnesses are unique in that they typically ignore traditional means of verification, seeing them as superstitious, overly emotional, and self absorbed.

As a person converts, they begin to see the world in these terms. Worlds events validate their belief that "the end is near" and that humanity will soon be subject to Gods wrath.
But when the world didn't end (eg 1975), they simply make up something else..........it requires a desire strong enough to use a denial of self and one's own identity, your soul.......in an attempt to 'be a winner' and placate fear. The Watchtower's existance validates certain passages in the bible.....just not the one's they were concentrating on.

Speaking lies is natural to them
by A Paduan init's no stretch - just part of regular speak.
got a knock at the door this morning - two guys (?elders) - first up i was shown a wt booklet and the opening line is, "we'd like to show you something from the bible.
it's not from us, it's from the bible"- all the while holding up the little wt book.. smiling, i said that i've read many bibles, and "i don't believe that's from the bible - you just think it is" - they didn't stay another second.. .

Why make fools of them?
by hamsterbait ini want to know why god spent the first seventy years of the wtbts directing it by his spirit, to print reams of trash that was constantly having to be updated and changed, why they insulted everybody elses beliefs and mocked proven science such as vaccinations and promoted quackery.. why did the spirit direct producing a translation of the bible with wilful additions to support obvious doctrinal bias, and such travesties as "do you now please step up into my chariot" instead of "please climb aboard my chariot now" than pass this off as modern english.
(other exx of ridiculous verbal contortions welcome).
all these things inevitably destroyed any credibility they might have gained by presenting a more reasonable face.. and now the public is to die because they don't want the litterature of a cult that has made a fool of itself and its god for over a hundred and thirty years!!.

It's the god in their head - he's going to give them things, but not to the people they don't like - they don't share the imagining, and so they threaten the existence of the god in their own head - so the others are "bad".
- they'll gladly make fools of themselves to protect the god in their head, and keep imagining that they'll be ultrablessed
You shall not make for yourself an image...........
